About Weifa

Weifa was founded in 1940 and now employs more than 200 highly qualified people at our headquarters in Oslo and production plant in Kragerø. Sales are increasing steadily, expecting to exceed NOK 500 million in 2010, which is 16 per cent higher than the previous year, and 58 per cent higher than in 2005.

Norwegian and international

The company has a strong position in Norway and is the market leader in pain relief, with well-established brands such as Paracet and Ibux. We are also present in other key areas such as dietary supplements and treatments for colds and respiratory problems. Weifa also has a considerable international business and is a leading producer of active ingredients for diabetes medicine (metformin) and opiates for use in pain relief and cough medicine. 35 per cent of our turnover now comes from our international business, where our customers are leading global pharmaceutical companies.

Based on our own production

Weifa is active throughout the value chain - from research and development to production, distribution and sales. The company's two factories in Kragerø represent a key element of this chain. One factory is a flexible combination plant for the production of tablets and various other preparations. The other factory is dedicated purely to the production of metformin and is the most modern of its type in the world.

Leadership ambitions

Weifa has set itself demanding goals for the future. Our ambition within medicines and lifestyle products is to be the leading locally-based supplier to Nordic consumers. At the same time, Weifa aims to further strengthen its position as supplier to the international professional market.  We will secure a leading position through a focus on quality in production and processes, along with a customer focus in product development and relationship building. Our vision is to be the most trusted and valued Nordic supplier of products and solutions in the fields of medicines and lifestyle products.
