Ibux works rapidly and effectively on pain and swelling and is particularly effective for menstrual pain, headache and pains in the muscles and joints.

Good for

When you feel pain, this can be due to an overproduction of a substance called prostaglandin. This intensifies the pain, causes swelling and makes the nerve fibres more sensitive. The active ingredient in Ibux is ibuprofen, which reduces the quantity of prostaglandins and relieves pain quickly and effectively – within 30 minutes.

Ibux irritates the stomach less than acetylsalicylic acid, which is the active ingredient in Dispril and Aspirin.

Ibux is also an effective fever-reducing agent.

Ibux can be used on children, for example for earache, muscle pains, toothache and headache caused by sinusitis. Your doctor can also issue a prescription for other uses.

Ibux is available in several varieties to suit your needs. See the package insert for information about dosage.

Side effects and safety precautions

Ibux can cause stomach ulcers at the recommended dose in persons who are predisposed to this, for example those who have had ulcers before or have acid reflux or alcoholics.

Ibux can increase the effect of blood-thinning medicines (anti-clotting agents). If you use other pain relieving or anti-inflammatory medicines (such as acetylsalicylic acid, naproxene or ibuprofen) that have been prescribed by a doctor, you must consult your doctor before taking Ibux together with them. These preparations work in somewhat similar ways and together the dose may be too high, causing side effects.

Ibuprofen has other possible side effects, such as ex-abdominal pain in the form of a sinking feeling, pain or sharp pains just below the breastbone. Abdominal bleeding may also occur, but serious cases are rare. Some cases of visual disturbance have been reported. Headache, dizziness and tiredness may occur. If you find you are developing a headache combined with a stiff neck, nausea, vomiting, fever or unconsciousness, stop taking Ibux and contact your doctor. Ibux does not normally affect the ability to drive or operate machinery. Some people may however experience dizziness and tiredness, especially at the start of treatment, which can impair the ability to react.
